PEAPAC Recommends: YES

Breaks state-enforced monopoly; biblical freedom of marketplace and choice.

Summary

Allows denturists (not just dentists) to install partial dentures.

Biblical Reasoning

One of the hallmarks of our American greatness is our freedom: freedom to engage in business, freedom to choose which provider of services we wish to employ, and freedom to enter into various trades without government interference. Over the last few decades, this Bible-based freedom has been eroded as more and more government bureaucracies and rules have replaced vocational and professional associations and standards.

PEAPAC Recommendation: This Measure gives a greater degree of freedom to the consumer to choose who will install his partial dentures. It removes a state-enforced monopoly. We urge a Yes vote on Measure 24.

PEAPAC Commentary: Well, this is a Measure you can really sink your teeth into, whether real or not!

We see no reason for the State of Oregon to enforce a monopoly dictating who can and cannot install partial dentures. We believe the free market and voluntary associations with private board certification procedures are well able to handle its oversight. And we believe the average citizen should have the freedom to let a denturist he trusts put his false teeth in. This Measure provides him that freedom and we ask you to vote Yes on it.
