PEAPAC Recommends: YES

Pornography is evil; the state has a duty to punish evildoers who push obscenity on children.

Summary

Aligns Oregon’s free speech protections regarding obscenity with the federal standard, allowing regulation of pornography.

Biblical Reasoning

For years, the Oregon State Supreme Court has said that, unlike 48 other states, Oregon’s Constitution prohibits virtually any restraint on pornography at all. This Measure would change our State Constitution, and thus allow the State of Oregon to punish the evil-doers who push pornography on the children of this state, and who sell depictions of wickedness (child pornography, etc.).

Isaiah 1:23 — “Your rulers are rebels and companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe and chases after rewards They do not defend the orphan, nor does the widow’s plea come before them.”
