PEAPAC Explanation: This Measure would liberalize the current medical marijuana laws. It would: allow up to six pounds of marijuana to be possessed; set up stores to sell marijuana; mandate that poor people get free marijuana; let caregivers other than doctors prescribe marijuana, and slow down marijuana investigations by the police.

PEAPAC Comment: This Measure would make the government change sides in the war on drugs. Instead of fighting pot, the government would be on the side of those who want increased marijuana usage. Civil rulers are to discourage drunkenness ( Rom. 13:3; Gal. 5:31), which includes marijuana intoxication. This Measure would turn this on its head. Government would end up dispensing marijuana, and making sure that at least 20% of it be given free of charge to the poor! While the supposed purpose is medication, a doctor’s prescription would not be required. Your local health practitioner, including your shaman, could write your prescription. (The pain-relieving substance found in marijuana is already available in pill form.)
