PEAPAC Recommends: YES

Supports the ‘benefits revolution’ to cut taxes; most government programs are unbiblical and should be defunded.

Summary

Requires a majority of all registered voters (not just those voting) to approve new taxes.

Biblical Reasoning

To go along with the “benefits revolution” that we have advocated, we do need to sharply curtail the amount of money that goes to various government entities via taxes. Most programs funded by these taxes are not assigned to the civil state in God’s Word, and are best left to the private sector.

Luke 3:13 — “And he said to them, “Collect no more than you are authorized to do.””

Election Results

48%
52%
YesNo

Voters rejected the majority voter approval requirement (52% No).

To go along with the “benefits revolution See “How Shall We Then Vote? Presuppositions – The Purpose of Civil Government” pg. 11 ” that we have advocated, we do need to s harply curtail the amount of money that goes to various government entities via taxes. Most programs funded by these taxes are not assigned to the civil state in God’s Word, and are best left to the private sector.

Unfortunately, we now face a situation where various taxing entities, trying to raise their revenues, feel free to come back time and again in repeated special elections. Eventually, the voters get tired of voting no, and a very small proportion of the eligible voters respond in the affirmative, and everyone’s taxes go up. This Measure remedies the situation, and is another “baby step” back towards biblically acceptable rates of taxation. We recommend a YES vote.
